Welcome to Creative Improv Piecing, a fresh and exhilarating class designed to unleash your imagination and creativity in the world of quilting! In this workshop, we encourage you to leave your fears behind and embrace the excitement of improvisation.

 

Here, it’s all about being brave and playful with color as you explore the freedom of quilt-making without rigid guidelines. You’ll learn about the concept of improv piecing and dive into four innovative techniques: triangles, crosses, 1/4 circles, and soft improv curves. Each technique offers a unique way to express yourself and create organically.

What You Will Learn in this Online Interactive Workshop:-

Fabric/Material requirements for this Online Interactive Workshop:-

Threads for sewing

8 x Fat Quarters (solids or monochromatic printed fabrics) in TWO complementary colours. Per each colour, bring FOUR different values (ie 2 colours x 4 different values = 8 Fat Quarters)

Cutting List:-

Please bring to the class the pieces below already cut.

You are going to create your mini quilt using Complementary Colours. Before cutting, decide which of your two hues is going to be your Dominant Hue (Hue 1) and which one will be your Accent Hue (Hue 2)

​

From Hue 1 (your Dominant Hue) using your different values cut:

12 squares that are 7” per side.

4 rectangles that are 7”x 9” per side.

​

From Hue 2 (your Accent Hue) using your different values cut:

4 squares that are 7” per side

1 rectangle that is  7”x 9” per side.

 

BRING ALL THE REMNANT FABRIC TO THE CLASS FROM BOTH HUES!!!

 

Equipment requirements for this Online Interactive Workshop:-

• Notebook and Pencil for taking notes

• Sewing-Machine

• Cutting Mat

• Iron & Ironing Board

• 1/4 inch Foot

• Fabric Marker (erasable)

• Rotary Cutter (with a NEW blade!)

• Quilting Ruler
